The No-Trash Triangle Initiative is now officially an Indonesian NGO!

Thanks to the hard work of the team in Manado, we have been granted official foundation status by the Indonesian government. AQUEIS has given financial support to pay for the foundation, making it possible. This is the culmination of our efforts to establish an organisation supported by local people and backed by an international network. The official NGO status opens up a variety of funding opportunities for the No-Trash Triangle Initiative and gives us a credibility that will hopefully make talks with official bodies and local governments a little easier.

In practice, NGO status means that we now have an Indonesian bank account through which the distribution of funds and the administration of donations can be handled more easily and efficiently.

As part of the NGO application process, we have expanded our team to ensure that we are supported by Indonesian conservationists and industry leaders. Our expanded team now consists of people from different backgrounds and professions, all committed to keeping the Coral Triangle plastic-free.

And of course, our original team remains committed to making the expansion of the initiative a success. Founders Dr Miriam Weber and Christian Lott, as well as Marco Segre-Reinach, owner of Coral Eye, will continue to provide support with their international network and knowledge. The other team members are Gráinne Regan and Andreas Eich, who will support in the areas of marketing and content.
