Micro plastic sampling during a citizen-science sailing expedition in the Cyclades (Greece)

The two greek scientists accompanied our collegue Roman Lehner from Sail & Explore on another citizen sciences expedition through the Cyclades. The two of them helped on board the sailing boat to collect surface water microplastic samples, for the very first time with a focus on collecting smaller-sized microplastics below 0.3mm.
Ioannis is a student in environmental biology at the University of Crete, who took the chance to also add up his samples for his master thesis. Markos is conducting his PhD at the Department of Environment of the Ionian University. The two of them supported the cruise by extern expertise and daily lectures about the marine ecology. Both plan to share their experiences with pupils in the future."
